This is a natural spring in limestone bedrock that is supplied by an underground river. It’s freshwater allows vegetation to grow.

The overhang cliff used to cover the spring entirely until it collapsed. The gem is now a protected nature preserve that has strict rules for visitors.

2. Jacob’s Well – Wimberely local gem!

This is an artesian spring that is the second largest fully submered cave in Texas that reaches 140 feet deep! Take caution whenever diving for lives have been lost by challenging the underwater caves.

The water temperature is usually 68 degrees and was once populated by native american groups.

3. Sonora Caves, Sonora’s local gem in Texas

This cave was discovered by accident and later had paths carved into it so others wouldn’t harm the cave system.

The cave was created by slow moving water containing rich minerals.

They offer a gift shop, guided tours, panning for gemstones and allow tents and RVs. Just follow the arrows carved into the cavern walls!

4. Newman’s Castle

A castle built by Newman that features a working drawbridge, gator moat, great hall, towers, training grounds, a courtyard and more.

It is part of a bakery – you must ask them about the castle and they will give you the castle’s address. It was originally planned to be a cabin but a friend of Newman’s brought up a castle in conversation. Newman liked the idea so like anyone else would, he built one.

5. West Cave

They offer guided tours on weekends where you can find a 40 foot waterfall in the grotto.
